Carol Y. Yu, O.D., FAAO, FSLS earned both her bachelor's degree in Integrative Biology and Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of California, Berkeley. She then completed a residency in Primary Care with an emphasis in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she received advanced training in fitting specialty contact lenses and managing dry eye and ocular diseases. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Society.
Dr. Yu’s clinical focus involves specialty contact lenses, ocular disease, and primary eye care. She fits specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, post-surgical corneas, severe dry eyes, aphakia, and myopia control. She is experienced working with a variety of contact lenses including scleral lenses. She helped establish the UCSD Myopia Control Clinic and provides state of the art treatment to children to slow the progression of myopia. Additionally, Dr. Yu is part of the Acute Eye Care Clinic where she triages and cares for patients with emergent eye related issues such as flashes and floaters, sudden loss of vision, and eye pain.
