Chairman's
Desk
With
the coming of fall, we are anticipating the opening of the
new Jacobs Retina Research Eye Center, the Hamilton Glaucoma
Research Center, the Eva Weyland Teaching Library and the
Ruth Schulmann Community Ophthalmology offices. I am grateful
to our generous donors who have made this possible. Your gifts
continue to be crucial to us as we grow our clinical practice;
attract new fellows; and, expand our research activity in
all our specialty areas.
Our physicians and researchers are producing
award winning work and we continue to attract new talent.
The challenges of adding space, equipment and dollars to support
faculty and fellows are with me each day. Patients travel
from all corners of the globe because of the reputation of
our outstanding physicians. You can read more about that on
page 15.
In addition, our community ophthalmology programs are reaching
out to more children and more people with Macular Degeneration.
Our efforts to find solutions for their visual challenges
are highlighted on pages 3 of this issue of the Viewpoint.
I am pleased with the new look for this publication and hope
that you join me in that. We look forward to a resurgence
of membership in Circle of Sight and to seeing you at our
fall events.
